Free T. rex & Predator Dinosaur Coloring Pages
T. rex is the star of the dinosaur world, so you will find it in several versions: with tiny arms, wearing a crown, running, or as a T. rex family. Every face is smiling, which makes the king of the dinosaurs look cuddly rather than frightening. The page "T. rex and Triceratops Friends" shows two animals that really did live at the same time in the same part of North America.
If you like variety, there are plenty of other meat-eaters: Allosaurus, horned Carnotaurus, crested Dilophosaurus, and the giants Giganotosaurus and Carcharodontosaurus. Spinosaurus at the river and Baryonyx catching a fish show that some predators mostly ate fish. Cryolophosaurus, with its pompadour-like crest, is also here, and its skeleton was found in Antarctica.
The small, speedy hunters are included too: Velociraptor, Deinonychus, Utahraptor, big-eyed Troodon, and tiny Compsognathus. Scientists now think many of these smaller predators had feathers, which you can play up with bright markers. Microraptor even glides on four wings, showing how close some dinosaurs were to today's birds. Here is a fun fact for curious kids: the real Velociraptor was only about the size of a turkey.
π¨ Color Tips: T-Rex & Predators
| Area | Color | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Body and skin | Olive green, brown, orange | Warm earth tones look natural and make light teeth and claws stand out. |
| Belly and throat | Light yellow, tan, cream | A lighter belly adds contrast and gives the dino a rounder look. |
| Teeth and claws | Leave white or light gray | The white of the paper looks like real ivory, and the teeth stay friendly. |
| Feathers (Velociraptor, Microraptor) | Blue, red, teal, yellow | Bright feathers like those of modern birds make the small predators pop. |
