Fun Facts About Carcharodontosaurus
Carcharodontosaurus means “shark-toothed lizard” – its teeth looked a lot like a great white shark’s. It lived in the Cretaceous period, about 100 to 94 million years ago, in North Africa, where it shared its home with Spinosaurus. At around 40 feet long, it ranks among the biggest meat-eaters ever. Its skull was very long – more than 5 feet. Like Spinosaurus, its first fossils were lost in World War II, but in 1995 scientists found a new skull in Morocco.
