Fun Facts About Baryonyx

Baryonyx was discovered in 1983 in a clay pit in England by an amateur fossil hunter who found a huge claw. That’s where its name comes from: “heavy claw.” It lived in the early Cretaceous period, about 125 million years ago, and grew around 26 to 33 feet long. Its snout was long and narrow, much like a crocodile’s. Scientists found fish scales in the belly area of the skeleton, which proves it ate fish. It was a close relative of Spinosaurus.
