Free Duck-Billed & Plant-Eating Dinosaur Coloring Pages
Parasaurolophus has a long, hollow crest on its head that it probably used to make deep sounds, and in the picture it trumpets happily. Corythosaurus and Lambeosaurus also have striking head crests, while Edmontosaurus has no bony crest at all. They are all duck-billed dinosaurs (hadrosaurs), with a broad, beak-like mouth for snipping plants.
The Maiasaura mom at her nest is a reminder that dinosaurs cared for their young, and her name means "good mother lizard." Iguanodon with its thumb spike was one of the first dinosaurs ever discovered, Ouranosaurus has a sail on its back, and Psittacosaurus has a parrot-like beak. At the plant-eater picnic, several species sit together in a cozy circle.
Two designs stand out: Gallimimus sprints like an ostrich, and Therizinosaurus had enormous claws even though it probably ate plants. That shows that claws and size do not tell you what an animal eats. With these pages kids learn that many dinosaurs were plant eaters, not hunters.
