Fun Facts About Corythosaurus
Corythosaurus means “helmet lizard” – its round crest reminded scientists of helmets worn by the ancient Greeks. It lived in the late Cretaceous period, about 77 to 75 million years ago, in what is now Canada. It grew about 30 feet long and was a duck-billed dinosaur. Its crest was hollow and connected to its nose, so it could probably make loud calls. One of the first skeletons, found in 1914, even came with skin impressions. It ate plants.
