Fun Facts About Ouranosaurus
Ouranosaurus lived in the early Cretaceous period, about 125 to 112 million years ago, in what is now Niger in West Africa. Its name comes from the language of the Tuareg people, who live in the desert there. It grew about 23 to 26 feet long and was a relative of Iguanodon – it had a small thumb spike too. Along its back were long bony spines. Scientists still debate whether they held up a thin sail or a thick hump like a bison’s. It was a plant-eater.
