Fun Facts About Gallimimus
Gallimimus means “chicken mimic” – though it actually looked more like an ostrich. It lived in the late Cretaceous period, about 70 million years ago, in what is now Mongolia. It grew about 20 feet long and had a small head, a long neck, and a toothless beak. Scientists think it was one of the fastest dinosaurs. Even though it was related to meat-eaters, it probably ate mostly plants – and maybe small animals too. Its close relatives had feathers, so it was likely feathered as well.
