Fun Facts About Edmontosaurus
Edmontosaurus lived at the end of the Cretaceous period, about 73 to 66 million years ago, in western North America – all the way up to Alaska. It’s named after the city of Edmonton in Canada. At about 40 feet long, it was one of the biggest duck-billed dinosaurs. Its mouth held hundreds of teeth packed in tight rows that kept growing back – perfect for grinding tough plants. Scientists have even found “dino mummies” with skin impressions. One find showed a soft, fleshy comb on its head, a bit like a rooster’s.
