A wooden coop with a small door, windows, and chicken pictures, plus the tile roof and the ladder with its tab.

How to build the chicken coop

1
Print the page on A4 or US Letter at 100% (Actual size) and cut out all pieces. Snip the front door on three sides.
2
Score all fold lines, fold the walls back and up, and glue the gray tabs inside.
3
Tuck the gable tabs inward, fold the roof down the middle, and glue it on.
4
Swing the door forward and glue the ladder's tab to the back of the door.

Safety: Stuffing, tape and small parts are not for children under 3.

💡 Tips

  • Cardstock (65–110 lb) keeps the ladder nice and straight.
  • Use small, pointed craft scissors for the door – kids may need a hand.
  • A pinch of hay or cotton inside makes a cozy nest.
  • The hen and rooster from the stand-up animals fit right in front.

What kids practice

Kids practice precise cutting, folding, and gluing, and snipping the little door takes extra finger control. It's also a great moment to talk about how chickens live: scratching outside all day and walking up the ladder to roost at night.
