πŸ“„ What’s on the Pages

Page 1: 8 finger puppets
Eight animal heads with a white border and matching ring strips with gray glue tabs, plus instructions.

How to make the finger puppets

1
Print the page on A4 or US Letter at 100% (Actual size).
2
Cut out the heads along the white border, then cut out the strips.
3
Wrap a strip around a finger and glue it into a ring with the gray tab.
4
Glue the head to the front of the ring – your finger puppet is ready.

Safety: Stuffing, tape and small parts are not for children under 3.

πŸ’‘ Tips

  • Wrap the strip loosely – rings tend to get snug once the glue dries.
  • Cardstock (65 lb or heavier) helps the puppets survive lots of shows.
  • Trim the strip for small fingers; for grown-up fingers, just overlap the tab a little.
  • A cardboard box with a window cut out makes an instant puppet stage.

What kids practice

Kids practice cutting around curves and gluing things to fit. In play they learn animal sounds, make up dialogue, and tell stories, which builds language and imagination. Finger plays also train each finger to move on its own.

πŸ”„ Variations & Ideas

Animal sound riddle
One child hides their hand, makes an animal sound, and then pops up the matching puppet.
Sing along
During "Old MacDonald" or other farm songs, kids raise the right finger for each animal.
Color your own
With the coloring version, kids design their puppets – a blue cow is totally fine.
