How to build the egg carton

1
Print the page on A4 or US Letter at 100% (Actual size). Cut out the box, dividers, and chick eggs, including the short slits on the dividers.
2
Score all fold lines, fold the walls back and up, and glue the gray tabs inside.
3
Slot the dividers together and set them in the box to make 6 cups.
4
Put the 6 chick eggs in the cups, close the lid, and tuck in the front flap.

Safety: Stuffing, tape and small parts are not for children under 3.

💡 Tips

  • Cardstock (65–110 lb) keeps the box and dividers sturdy.
  • Let a grown-up snip the short slits in the dividers.
  • Use the circles on the lid label as a tally: how many chicks are inside?
  • Small chocolate or candy eggs fit too – a lovely little gift.

What kids practice

Folding the box and slotting the dividers together builds fine motor skills and spatial thinking. Six cups and six chicks invite counting and one-to-one matching. It's also a nice moment to talk about where eggs come from and how long a chick grows inside one.
