πŸ’‘ Tips

  • Heavy cardstock (around 110 lb) keeps the animals standing steady.
  • Laminate the play mat or glue it to cardboard so it lasts.
  • Store everything in a tin or zip bag and the farm is set up again in seconds.
  • For a classroom group, print the animal page several times so every child gets their own.

What kids practice

Kids learn the names of twelve farm animals and can sort them by type. Cutting and slotting the bases builds fine motor skills. In free play on the mat they tell stories and move animals between barn and pasture, which grows language and imagination.
