How Were Marine Reptile Babies Born?
Plesiosaurs were marine reptiles, not dinosaurs. Unlike dinosaurs, they didn’t lay eggs – they gave birth to live babies in the water. We know this partly thanks to a special fossil from the U.S.: a close relative of Plesiosaurus was found with a single, large baby inside. Because the baby was so big, scientists think moms may have cared for their young for a while – a bit like whales do today. Plesiosaurus itself lived in the early Jurassic period.
Fun Ideas for Your Finished Page
