Fun Facts About Pachyrhinosaurus
Pachyrhinosaurus means “thick-nosed lizard.” Instead of a nose horn, it had a thick, rough bony bump on its nose. It lived in the late Cretaceous period, about 73 to 69 million years ago, in what is now Canada – and even Alaska. Back then it was warmer there than today, but winters were still long and dark. In Canada, scientists found a site packed with the bones of many animals together – a clue that it lived in herds. It grew about 20 to 26 feet long and ate plants.
