Fun Facts About Pentaceratops
Pentaceratops means “five-horned face.” But that’s not quite right: it had three real horns like Triceratops – two over the eyes and one on the nose. The other two were pointy cheekbones that just looked like horns. It lived in the late Cretaceous period, about 76 to 73 million years ago, in what is now New Mexico. Its skull, with that enormous frill, was over 7 feet long – one of the largest skulls known from any land animal. It was a plant-eater.
