Fun Facts About Stegosaurus Plates
Stegosaurus had about 17 back plates standing in two staggered rows. The plates were fairly flat and thin – not pointy like spikes. Its back legs were much longer than its front legs, so its back was highest in the middle and sloped down toward its head and tail – almost like a slide! Its small head hung low, close to the ground. It lived in the late Jurassic period in western North America and ate low-growing plants.
Fun Ideas for Your Finished Stegosaurus Slide
Fold a strip of cardboard into a mini slide for toy figures. Count the plates on the page – are there as many as on a real Stegosaurus? Or head to the playground and slide like a baby dino!
