Duckling Paper Squishy: a Yellow Duck to Squeeze

Full-color paper squishy template of a yellow duckling with orange bill, wing and webbed foot plus a yellow back, printable

Yellow as sunshine, with a wide bill and one webbed foot poking forward โ€“ this duckling wins hearts instantly. As a paper squishy it turns soft and pocket-sized, like a bath duck for dry land. Great for pond, spring and farm themes.

What's in the PDFs

There are two separate 2-page PDFs: the color version and the coloring version. Page 1 has the large duckling with a front and back (about 4 inches tall), page 2 has four mini ducklings (about 1.75 inches tall), each with its own back. The back is mirrored so both halves line up exactly.

Front and back plus the four-step instructions โ€“ in color or to color, depending on the PDF.
Page 2: Mini ducklings
Four little ducklings, each as a front-and-back pair.

How to make the duckling

1
Print at 100% (actual size); on the coloring page, make bill and feet orange and the body yellow or brown.
2
Cut out both pieces with the white border, going carefully around the tail and the tuft.
3
Cover front and back smoothly with wide packing tape or laminate them.
4
Line up the back underneath and tape all around, leaving about 1 inch free at the orange mark at the bottom.
5
Stuff with fiberfill and seal the opening.

Safety: Stuffing, tape and small parts are not for children under 3.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

  • No yellow paper needed โ€“ the color template prints the yellow for you.
  • Wide packing tape gives the duckling a glossy bath-duck look.
  • Not for kids under 3: stuffing and tape don't belong in little mouths.
  • A paper duckling hates water โ€“ grab a real bath duck for splashing.

What kids practice

Cutting around the tail and tuft trains pointy corners. While coloring, you can talk about how ducks oil their feathers with oil from a gland near the tail so water rolls off. And ducklings follow the first thing they see after hatching โ€“ usually their mom.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can the duckling go in water?
Better not. The tape keeps off splashes, but paper and fiberfill soak up water as soon as it gets past the taped edge.

Why does the back face the other way?
It's mirrored so it lines up exactly under the front when you stack the pieces.

How many mini ducklings are there?
Four: two in color and two to color, each with its own back.

Is the download free?
Yes, all templates on PureSketchy are 100% free for personal, preschool and classroom use โ€“ no sign-up needed.
