Fun Facts About Nodosaurus

Nodosaurus lived in the Cretaceous period, about 100 to 95 million years ago, in western North America. Its name means “knobby lizard,” thanks to the round bony bumps in its skin. It was first described way back in 1889. It was a close relative of Ankylosaurus, with one big difference: no club on its tail. A whole family of armored dinosaurs, the nodosaurs, is named after it. Only part of its skeleton has been found. It was a plant-eater that munched on low-growing plants.

Fun Ideas for Your Finished Nodosaurus

Glue a button or pom-pom onto each armor bump so you can feel the armor. Pick a flower outside (or make one from paper) and glue it next to the dino. Or compare Nodosaurus and Ankylosaurus: who has a club?
