Fun Facts About Amargasaurus
Amargasaurus lived in the early Cretaceous period, about 129 to 122 million years ago, in what is now Argentina. It was found in a canyon called La Amarga, which gave it its name. For a long-neck, it was fairly small – about 30 feet long – and its neck was on the short side. Its long spines grew right out of its neck and back bones. Scientists aren’t sure what they were for: maybe showing off or recognizing each other, or maybe skin stretched between them. It ate plants that grew fairly low to the ground.
