Fun Facts About Diplodocus

Diplodocus lived in the late Jurassic period, about 154 to 150 million years ago, in western North America. At around 80 feet long, it was as long as two school buses – but fairly slim. Its tail was super long and tapered to a thin, whip-like tip. The name means “double beam,” after special bones on the underside of its tail. It was a plant-eater with peg-shaped teeth. Casts of one famous Diplodocus skeleton stand in museums all over the world.
