Fun Facts About Argentinosaurus
Argentinosaurus lived in the Cretaceous period, about 95 million years ago, in what is now Argentina – hence its name. It’s considered one of the largest land animals of all time: estimates range over 100 feet long and around 70 tons – about as heavy as ten elephants. It was discovered by a rancher who first thought one giant bone was a piece of petrified wood. Only a few bones have been found so far, so these sizes are estimates. It was a plant-eater.
