Fun Facts About Mamenchisaurus

Mamenchisaurus lived in the late Jurassic period, about 160 to 145 million years ago, in what is now China. It was discovered in 1952 at a highway construction site. Its neck was about half the length of its entire body – for the biggest known species, scientists estimate around 50 feet, longer than any other animal we know of. It also had lots of neck bones: 19 of them. Of course, its head never actually reached the clouds – that’s a fun exaggeration on our page. It was a plant-eater.
