Grumpy Cloud Paper Squishy Template

Gray rain cloud with a sulky face, a lightning bolt and blue raindrops falling below

We all have days with a little rain cloud hanging overhead. This grumpy cloud is allowed to grumble right along with you, and squishing it often helps the mood float back up.

βœ‚οΈ What’s in the Template

The PDF shows the cloud in gray-blue with a sulky face, a small lightning bolt and raindrops, front and back. You also get a coloring version and mini clouds on page 3. Finished, it's about 5 inches wide.

🧺 What You Need
  • Printer and regular printer paper (US Letter or A4)
  • Scissors
  • Wide clear packing tape (or laminating sheets)
  • Stuffing: cotton balls, yarn or paper scraps
  • Crayons or markers for the coloring version

πŸ“ Step-by-Step Instructions

1
Print at 100% (turn off β€œfit to page”). Color the B/W version first.
2
Cut out the front and back along the outer line – the white border is the tape edge.
3
Cover both pieces with wide clear tape, overlapping the strips slightly, and smooth them out.
4
Place the front and back together exactly (colored sides out).
5
Tape all around the edge, leaving about 1 inch open where it says β€œleave open here”.
6
Stuff with cotton, yarn or paper scraps – not too full – and tape the opening shut. Done!

😀 Stress-relief tip: Squeeze, squish, toss gently – for example at the squishy target. More ideas in the guide Squishies for Stress Relief.

πŸ’‘ Tips

  • The cloud bumps are soft, so cut in big curves rather than lots of tiny snips.
  • Stuff the cloud with cotton, which already looks like cloud on the inside.
  • The raindrops and bolt are small, so tape them well since they get handled most.
  • Squeeze from the sides so the face in the middle stays smooth.

🎨 Color Ideas

Storm gray
Dark gray and blue-violet make the cloud look properly threatening.
Pink grumble
A pink cloud that still complains is extra funny.
Sun behind it
Draw a yellow glow behind the cloud, because the sun is coming back soon.

πŸ”„ Variations

Weather station
Hang the cloud on a string to show the family's mood of the day.
Throwing cloud
Gently toss it at a target and say out loud what bugged you.
Fair-weather cloud
Make a second one in happy white with a sun and swap when your mood improves.

Safety: Stuffing and tape are not for children under 3. Never use real food or scented oils as stuffing.
