How to get ready

1
Print all pages at actual size, ideally on cardstock.
2
Cut out the 24 calling cards along the dashed lines, shuffle them, and stack them face down.
3
Give each child one bingo card and a handful of corn kernels, dried beans, or buttons as markers.
4
The “farmer” draws one calling card at a time and reads out the name and sound.
5
Anyone who has that animal on their card covers the square.

Rules and variations

1
A grown-up or a child plays the “farmer” and draws the calling cards.
2
The first player to cover four squares in a row – across, down, or diagonally – shouts “Bingo!” or “Cock-a-doodle-doo!”
3
The farmer checks the win against the cards already drawn.
4
Blackout: keep playing until someone covers all 16 squares.
5
Animal sound bingo: the farmer only makes the sound or describes the animal, and the kids guess.
6
For the littlest ones (3+): just show the pictures and say the names together.

💡 Tips

  • Laminated bingo cards last for many rounds, and you can mark them with a dry-erase marker.
  • With more than 8 kids, let pairs share a card.
  • Have kids color the coloring version before the game so every card is one of a kind.
  • Corn kernels fit the farm theme and are easy for small fingers to grab.

What kids learn

Kids learn 24 farm words, from calf to hay bale, and link them to animal sounds. Scanning their card trains careful looking and listening. Spotting rows across, down, and diagonally builds early spatial thinking, and waiting for their square teaches patience.

🔄 Variations & Ideas

Riddle bingo
Instead of the name, the farmer reads only the short line, like “I hop around and love dandelions.”
Sound-off round
Everyone makes the animal sound before covering the square.
Kid callers
Older kids read the calling cards themselves for some easy reading practice.
