- Colored pencils or markers
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Matchboxes or cardboard for shelves
- Small box as a cash register
🏡 Setup Idea at the Elf Door
Stand the folded boxes on a small cardboard shelf next to the elf door and hang the shop sign above. Price tags go in front of the goods.
🎲 Play Idea With the Set
Everyone gets a few elf coins. At night the elf plays shopkeeper, and during the day the kids shop. Whoever pays gets a receipt, and the coins go into the cash box beside the door.
💡 Tips
- The boxes are only about 1 to 1.5 in (2–4 cm) in size. They count as small parts for kids under 3, so play with supervision.
- Print at 100% and switch off “fit to page” so the pieces stay elf-sized.
- Cut roughly first, then trim along the lines. That keeps tiny pieces neat.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How big are the boxes?
Tiny: the butter is about 1 × 0.55 × 0.5 in (2.6 × 1.4 × 1.2 cm), the powdered snow about 0.7 in (1.8 cm) on each side. Sizes are printed on the page.
How do you play?
The last page has the rules: cut out the money, set out the goods, hand out coins, and the elf sells at night and hands out receipts.
Which paper works best?
Plain printer paper is fine for coloring. Pieces that stand up or get folded hold their shape better on heavy cardstock (65–110 lb).
Can we reuse the set next year?
Yes. Store the finished pieces in an envelope or a cookie tin with your holiday decorations.
Is the download free?
Yes, every printable on PureSketchy is 100% free for personal use, preschools and schools – no sign-up needed.
