Bat eye mask with big jagged wings and pointed ears, ready to print

Two big jagged wings and two pointed ears – our printable bat mask has kids fluttering off into the night. This light eye mask is quick to make: color it, cut it out, and add elastic. This free bat mask template is perfect for a Halloween party, dress-up, and nature lessons.

Why This Bat Mask Is So Fun

Big jagged wings on the left and right give the eye mask its classic bat silhouette. Two pointed ears on top make it instantly recognizable. Since it covers only the eyes, it's light and comfy – perfect for a long party. For kids five and up, it's a mask that sparks curiosity about real bats too.

5
Add Elastic
Punch the small circles on both sides, thread the elastic and tie a knot.
πŸ’‘ Craft Tip: Color the wings dark and trace the wing bones with a silver or purple marker. Add two little googly eyes next to the eye holes for a goofy touch.

⚠️ Safety: eye holes, craft knives and hot glue are grown-up jobs. Don’t run or play rough while wearing a mask that limits your view – and never put elastic around the neck.

Play Ideas for Little Bats

In an echo game, one blindfolded bat finds the others only by listening for their calls, just like real bats using echolocation. Try looking at the world upside down between your legs, the way bats hang while they sleep. Have bats swoop in to collect paper bugs. Then fly around a darkened room to soft music on a night flight.

Fun Facts About Bats

Bats are the only mammals that can truly fly. Their wings are made of thin skin stretched between long finger bones. Many bats find their way in the dark using echolocation: they send out high-pitched calls and listen for echoes to locate obstacles and insects. During the day, they sleep hanging upside down, and many species hibernate in winter. Bats are super helpful because they eat huge numbers of mosquitoes and other insects.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What age is this mask suitable for?
The bat mask is made for ages 5 to 8. Kids color and cut out the outer shape themselves, and an adult helps cut the eye holes.

Will the mask fit a child’s face?
Yes – printed at actual size (100 %) on A4 or US Letter, the mask is roughly the size of a child’s face. For adults, scale it up to 110–115 % or print on A3/Tabloid.

What paper works best?
We recommend 160–200 gsm cardstock (65 lb) so the jagged wings keep their shape.

Is the download free?
Yes, all masks and coloring pages on PureSketchy are 100% free for personal use, preschools, and schools.

Is there a German version?
Yes! You can find the German version at Fledermaus Maske.
